Google {Google Online Sales Festival} – The Great Online Shopping Festival (GOSF) was a flagship annual online shopping event created by Google India on 12 December 2012 in collaboration with a number of Indian online shopping portals. The concept of the GOSF was that the online shopping sites would give heavy discounts for one day, in order to promote their sales. However, this event was ahead of its time and could not generate desired buzz.

PROPTIGER {Your Home Festival} – In a fresh push to help buyers experience realty online, India’s digital real estate platform launched the YOHO (Your Home) festival. The first edition of this online festival happened in September (17-23), 2015 and offered 4D technology to enable life-like view of properties on sale. The second edition is going on and is active till February 15, 2016.

SNAPDEAL {FREEDOM FROM RENT} – A special real estate shopping carnival called “freedom from rent” for its customers to usher in the festivals of Lohri, Pongal and Sankranti this New Year. The week long extravaganza started from 14th January marked huge success, paving way for many more such events.

MAGIC BRICKS {Great Online Home Festival} – Organised by in, along with Group M Worldwide Inc, a media investment firm, and Google India Pvt. Ltd, the month of July, 2015, this event garnered huge success and recorded a business of Rs 200 crore in 10 days.

99 acres. com {Indian Realty Flash Sale} – 99 acres along with digital marketing firm, Amura Marketing Technologies, organized this realty flash sale in the month of June (25-28), 2015 and recorded more than 14,000 coupons. In this flash sale, around 51 developers offered their apartments in about 250 projects across 18 cities.

One of the reasons for success of these online sales is the lack of transparency in the offline methods. The dealers network, who eventually catalyses the deals, could not generate faith among buyers. Buyers are slowing moving away from these dealers and are trying to establish direct connection with the developers. Fortunately, these online festivals allow a buyer to interact with company’s sales team directly. The real estate sector is gradually moving towards organised methods. With the success of these online flash sales and property carnivals, it can safely be said that online is the future!
